Getting Started

What is WordPress?

WordPress is open-source web software that you can install on a web server to create your website, blog, online shop, community, or network. WordPress started out as a tool for blogging, but has evolved into a fully-fledged Content Management System (CMS), capable of powering websites, online shops, networks, and communities.

What is a content management system (CMS)?

A Content Management System (CMS) gives you complete control over your website, by allowing you to add or change any content on your website – pages, images, news, products descriptions and prices.

Why use WordPress?

There are many reasons why you should choose WordPress as the foundation for your website. We have listed some of the more common ones on our page Why Choose WordPress?

One of the principal advantages of WordPress is that it allows you to have complete control over the content of your website. Installation is very simple, as is the configuration.

Also, If you feel you are stuck with a hosting service provider that is slow or over priced. It is fairly easy to move your website to a better service with minimum fuss and downtime.

Do I need special skills to use WordPress?

No. It can be accessed from any web browser on any computer and if you can use a word processor (Microsoft Word or Open Office), then using WordPress to publish your content should be a piece of cake.

Do you provide a domain name and hosting?

No. We prefer to concentrate on design and development.

We believe that our clients should have complete control over their website, which means a separate web hosting contract between the client and the host, which doesn’t tie you to a particular website design company.

We will be happy to help you to determine which web hosting company and which web hosting package is the best for your requirements and most hosting packages include a free domain name.

Communication

What happens when I complete your contact form?

We contact you / meet you (if you are situated locally to our offices) to learn all about your business and target audience, discover your exact requirements and objectives.

Then, we analyse your requirements and make recommendations to help you achieve your objectives.

Once we are agreed on the correct way to go forward with the project. We will begin to develop a sample website on our own servers, where you will be able to view our progress and provide feedback.

Will we need to have a meeting?

In the majority of cases, a meeting isn’t necessary and 90% of our sites are generally completed with contact via email and telephone only.

Where are you located?

Our offices are located in Leyland, Lancashire, within the United Kingdom. Full details of our location are provided on our Contact Us page.

Please note: Visits to our office are by prior appointment only.

Timeframe

How long does it take to build a website?

The timescale of a project is generally dictated by the client. If you have a deadline in mind will always do our utmost to meet it for you.

Like anything creative, designing a great website takes time. It can take from a few weeks to a few months (or more) to completely design and launch a new website, depending on the project. In general though, how soon your website can be completed depends on a number of things,

  • The number of pages in your website
  • The complexity of your design
  • Any advanced features you need
  • When your content is ready
  • Our current client design schedule
  • Your timely feedback and input on our work

For instance; A simple brochure site can be up and running in 1 or 2 weeks. More complex projects can take longer. When we know your exact requirements, we will send you a contract with a realistic end date. The most common delay in the creation of a site is waiting for content (text/images) to be sent to us by the client.

What is the 3% under allowance policy?

Maecenas eu placerat ante. Fusce ut neque justo, et aliquet enim. In hac habitasse platea dictumst. Nullam commodo neque erat, vitae facilisis erat. Cras at mauris ut tortor vestibulum fringilla vel sed metus. Donec interdum purus a justo feugiat rutrum. Sed ac neque ut neque dictum accumsan. Cras lacinia rutrum risus, id viverra metus dictum sit amet.

Costs & Payment

How much does a website cost?

What your website will cost depends, to a great extent, on your requirements, (number of pages and functions on the website, quantity of products, etc.) As every website is unique, the time involved in one can vary considerably compared to another. This is why we offer a free price quote so we can give you an estimate as to how much the project will cost before any work is started.

How does the payment process work?

The project starts with a 50% deposit. After our initial proposals are signed off and before we move into development, we collect a further25%. Once we have completed and fulfilled our scope, the final 25% is collected and your website is then scheduled for launch.

How do I go about making payment?

Maecenas eu placerat ante. Fusce ut neque justo, et aliquet enim. In hac habitasse platea dictumst. Nullam commodo neque erat, vitae facilisis erat. Cras at mauris ut tortor vestibulum fringilla vel sed metus. Donec interdum purus a justo feugiat rutrum. Sed ac neque ut neque dictum accumsan. Cras lacinia rutrum risus, id viverra metus dictum sit amet.

Are there any hidden costs?

No. We agree a fixed price with you, which means you know exactly what you will pay. Quotes are always given before we start any work, and costs are clearly documented. The only time we would charge additional fees would be in the instances where a client requests a new page or some additional features or images for the website after work has commenced. Charges for additional work such as this are always given before the additional work is started.

After Sales

Can I see how many visitors I have to my website?

Yes, you can. We can set up a free Google Analytics account for you.

Google’s free web analytics service allows you to analyse in-depth detail about the visitors on your website. It provides valuable insights that can help you to shape the success strategy of your business.

Can I update my own website, or will you do it?

We encourage our clients to maintain their own websites once they’re launched. All of our websites are built using WordPress, so that you can update it easily yourself. We’ll make sure you know how to use WordPress before we turn over the website to you.

Generally, we expect there to be minor updates within the first 30 days after launch, so those are free. Updates after that are charged at our hourly rate – if you need something simple like an address or phone number changed, we don’t charge you.

Will I own the finished product?

Yes. Everything that we build will be 100% owned by you.

If, for any reason, you decide you want to get another company to service the site, we will happily assist you in making the transition as effortlessly and efficiently as possible. The website is yours after all, and we want you to be able to take it with you, wherever you go.

All we ask is your permission to post screenshots and a description of your website in our portfolio.
